DENNIS
ERECTUS RUNDOWN
March 19, 2007
Last Thursday's Dennis Erectus Benefit could have
used a few more Karate Rockers at the Bottom of the Hill but those
that were there saw a show that rocked so magnificently that Holzfeuer
of ArnoCorps proclaimed, "That is one of the best and ballsiest
rock shows I've ever been to!"
All told we raised nearly $500 for Dennis' medical
bills and that's money he didn't have before. Those that showed
up to rock and played the raffle can feel just a little bit better
than you would from going to your regular rock show.
As for Count Dante and the BDFS, we debuted TWO NEW
SONGS! The first was a metal infused epic about the Greek God of
the forge titled "Hephaestus"
("the blue collar god, the deity stuck in a dead end job").
The second was called "Shang
Chi, Master of Kung-Fu," which was belted out by Jim
"Chi Power" Henderson while he belted on the skins. Stone
Vengeance put on such an spirited display of speed metal
prowess that their set is a solid contender for show of the year
in my book, and that book is written in solid granite. And The
Makes Nice brought a high level of musicianship to Sixties-tinged
pop that hasn't been seen in this town since, well, the Sixties!
I'd like to say that this show couldn't have happened
without the tireless assistance of Ramona and everyone at The
Bottom of the Hill. It's a classy operation they've got
over there. I'd also like to thank Big
Rick Stuart of KFOG,
KFOX,
and Steven Seaweed
from The Bone for plugging the show on the air and Lil Mike for
posting this
great write up on the benefit on Metroblog.
Lastly,
thanks go out once again to the people and companies that supplied
the raffle prizes:
Amoeba

Isotope Comic Book Lounge, Edmond
A. Zingaro, M.D. ,Ed

If you
couldn't make it to the show but still want to donate money to Dennis'
benevolent account, you can send a check or money order made
